Over the last several months we have had a few
projects that the traditional diapositive material just has not cut it.
The shadows would go black and the sand and concrete would just blow out
and detail was lost. Obviously this makes the material hard to use
for the intended purpose which is high detailed mapping. After
spending a few days running tests we have found such a dramatic increase
in the detail that is found in a true film material over the RA4
material that Debra & Kevin Johnson have decided to make all of our
color diapositives on this material unless other wise requested do to
film with very poor conditions that the increase of contrast is desired.
This raw material has an increase price of approximately $1.40 per sheet
so in the middle of February 2008 we had to increase the cost of our
color diapositives but we only raised the cost $1.30 rather then the
full amount of the increase. After the items we tested and
compared Debra knew in order to provide the best product to our clients
and in order to provide them the highest ease of mapping or scanning
ability that there was no other choice then to make this change.
We also have decided to run a dedicated processor to just run the color
diapositives because the improvement is so dramatic as you can see in
the two images below. These aerial at 1:14000 which we scanned
diapositives at 8um with slight color correction and saved as JPG for
web purposes.
The original images show even more of a dramatic difference then the
image but I know you will agree it is a change we had to make.
Take a close look at the sand, the corner of the
truck and of course the shadow detail! Our clients are raving
about how much better their diapositives look then any that they have
gotten from any lab for years!

original or a sample from your own photography please contact Kevin at MKJ@AerialPhotoLab.com.
